Given the country's current energy problems, identifying and continuously monitoring the factors affecting energy efficiency is an inevitable necessity. In developing countries such as Iran, banks play a more prominent role in financing projects related to energy efficiency changes. Therefore, identifying the effect of the policy of reducing the number of bank branches on energy efficiency is very important. With this attitude, the present study has attempted to address this issue. Investigating the effect of the number of bank branches in each geographical area on energy efficiency can be very beneficial for the country's policymakers in the monetary and banking fields as well as energy, and provide the means to reduce pollution and increase energy security, which ensures social welfare.
The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of the number of bank branches on energy efficiency in the provinces of the country. The data used in this study covers the period from 2007 to 2019 and 30 provinces of the country. In this study, based on the results of the stationarity tests and the Hausman test, the dynamic fixed effects (DFE) method has been selected.
