The Role of Renewable Energies in Achieving Sustainable Energy Security for the Iranian Economy: A System Dynamics Approach Ali Hossein Ostadzad Assistant Professor of Energy engineering Group, University of Larestan, Lar, Iran, (a.ostadzad@lar.ac.ir) Received: 2024/09/08 Accepted: 2025/01/13 Abstract 6 Supply of renewable energy has been a critical concern for developing nations in the world. The study tries to explore the potential of renewable energies to enhance sustainable energy security in the Iranian economic sector and endeavors to provide solutions to the question of what policies should the government implement to raise the percentage of renewable energy to 47 percent by the year 1430, as targeted by the International Energy Agency. Here, the system dynamics approach is employed to simulate the complex relationships between renewable energy use, dependence on fossil fuel resources, and energy security. Six scenarios of the development of renewable energies have been discussed and analyzed. The outcomes indicate that through the imposition of correct policy and fostering the advancement of renewable energy, it would be possible to attain a 47 percent proportion of such resources in electricity generation by the year 1430. By delivering a dynamic model, this study gives policymakers a more informed grasp of interactive influences of differing parameters, making more informed decision-making feasible within the energy market. Based on the best and most hopeful scenario for the development of renewable technology, the estimate made through the extended model presented in the study indicates that 47.31% of the power will be generated by renewable energies in the year 1430.
