Therefore, the purpose of this research is to investigate the factors affecting gasoline demand in the rail transportation sector (passenger cargo) (case study: Tehran and Razavi Khorasan provinces) using the seemingly unrelated regression method in the period of 1996-2021. The obtained results in this research show that the gross domestic product and the creation of new lines in the studied provinces will have the greatest impact on the demand for gasoline, and the price of the energy carrier (gasoline) will have the least effect on fuel demand in the rail transport sector in Tehran and Khorasan Razavi provinces. In general, it is suggested that the government will increase the demand for rail transportation in the mentioned provinces with price discrimination policies and fuel price increase in Razavi Khorasan Province and reduction of price tariffs in the rail transportation sector of Tehran Province.
