Abstract:   (22 Views)
Following the evolution of welfare economics, the concept of happiness has gained importance along with the wealth, consumption and production. Oil income and climate changes that result from the consumption of oil can have different effects on happiness depending on the type of t governance. This article is going to analyze the threshold effects of economic dependence on oil and climate change on happiness in 8 oil-rich countries with emphasis on good governance during 2006-2023, by PSTR method. The results showed that good governance is transition variable for the happiness function by a threshold equal to 0.62 and the speed of transition from the first regime to the second, is 24.26. The good governance did not affect happiness in the first regime, but had a positive effect in the second regime. The effect of dependence on oil in the first regime is negative and supports the resource curse hypothesis, and it has no effect in the second regime. Climate changes in the first regime had a negative but meaningless effect, but in the second regime left a positive effect. The unemployment rate has a negative effect on happiness in both regimes, but this effect has increased in the second regime.
