This paper examines the effects of choice of different options for producing electricity (fossil fuels, nuclear and renewable) on the development of power plants in Iran and prioritizing amongst these options through use of cost benefit analysis and the LEAP modeling tool. This research is informed by multiple scenarios regarding the development of electricity generation activities and different share of each of these options in Iran's electricity production for the period 2015-2041. The study results indicate that the policy of optimal development of power plants is the most beneficial policy choice with the policy of developing renewable power plants (with the goal of 20% of the share of production) as the second best choice.
